LIDCOMBE RISE

Billbergia

Lidcombe NSW

Goldfish and Bay is proud to have played a key role in the development of Lidcombe Rise, a socially and economically viable project that enhances the supply of social, affordable, and market housing in Sydney.

Project Overview

Lidcombe Rise, located in close proximity to Lidcombe station, is a mixed-use development designed to seamlessly integrate with the surrounding urban and residential context. Originally occupied by 10 detached dwellings, the site now features a vibrant community hub with 376 apartments, including 63 social housing units, as well as small format retail spaces and a childcare center for 60 children.

Design and Architecture

The development, designed by Plus Architecture, prioritizes equity of amenity across all tenure types. The design ensures that from the street entrance to the lobby and into each apartment, the quality and dignity of the living experience remain consistent regardless of the occupant's circumstances.

The architectural language of Lidcombe Rise is defined by the use of color, referencing the diverse flora of greater Sydney, and a cohesive aesthetic achieved through swooping precast forms, glazed elements, and matte aluminum paneling. Sustainability is a cornerstone of the design, with facades featuring continuous bands of precast to limit glazing and the use of horizontal and external fins/blades to enhance solar protection for double-glazed windows.

Community Impact

Lidcombe Rise stands as a testament to the potential of socially forward developments to thrive in the face of construction and development challenges. The project successfully validates the vision of delivering equitable amenities and high-quality living environments in a financially sustainable manner.
