Punchbowl Aged Care, developed by Deicorp and designed by Nordon Jago Architects, redefines aged care with a fresh approach to comfort and community living. Completed in July 2023 for the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese, St Nicholas Church, this thoughtfully designed facility is located 17 kilometers west of Sydney.

Designed to feel more like a home than an institution, this 80-bedroom development blends seamlessly with its surroundings. The natural slope of the terrain allows for a three-level structure within an eight-meter height limit. The façade, crafted to resemble a series of townhouses, incorporates brick, concrete, and aluminum battens, creating a dynamic yet welcoming appearance. Interiors, designed by TSD, offer varied living areas, private gardens, terraces, and abundant natural light to enhance well-being.

Sustainability is integral to the project, with mature trees retained to maintain local biodiversity, large terraces and pergolas providing natural shading, and energy-efficient features reducing reliance on artificial lighting. The design maximizes natural ventilation and daylight, creating a comfortable and environmentally responsible living environment.

A dedicated recreation building connects the church to the residences, offering a space for community gatherings while ensuring minimal noise for residents. This facility sets a new benchmark in aged care, combining innovative design with sustainability to create a supportive and vibrant community.
