As we pause to remember the service and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand forces this ANZAC Day, we also acknowledge the many roles that engineers played — both on and off the battlefield.
Did you know?
In World War I and II, engineers were responsible for constructing trenches, roads, bridges, airfields, water supplies, and communication systems — often under fire, in extreme conditions, and with limited resources. Their work was crucial to the survival and effectiveness of troops in the field. These engineers were known as sappers — soldiers trained in both engineering and combat. They cleared minefields, built critical infrastructure, and often led the way into hostile territory with practical ingenuity and technical skill. Their legacy lives on in the problem-solving mindset that continues to define the engineering profession today.
While our work at Goldfish & Bay looks different, the values remain the same — precision, resilience, and the drive to build solutions that serve and support communities.
As we honour that legacy, please note:
Our office is CLOSED today, 25 April, in recognition of ANZAC Day.
Lest we forget.
